Apollo Beach attorney Damon C. Glisson has a long record of service to his community. He has served on the South Shore Council of the Community Foundation Tampa Bay since 2012, including tenure as council chair and as a member of the Board of Trustees for three years. He is a member of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Ruskin, Florida, where he serves as one of the head ushers. He was a member of the South Shore Rotary Club for 25 years, maintaining perfect attendance while serving as Secretary, Treasurer, and President. Mr. Glisson served six years on the Apollo Beach Civic Association Board, including one year as President. In 1991, he was appointed by the Chief Judge of Hillsborough County as a Civil Traffic Hearing Officer, a role he has continued in part-time to the present. He also served 13 years as Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of Troop 661 of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Wood Badge honor.
Damon Glisson was elected Chair of the General Practice, Small and Solo Firm Section of The Florida Bar in 2015. He guided the section through a lengthy process, including presentations to the Bar’s Program Evaluation Committee and the Board of Governors, to change the name to the Solo and Small Firm Section (SSF). The SSF provides continuing legal education to its members through titles such as *Legal Ethics*, *The Florida Law Update*, *The Agricultural Law Conference*, and the Florida Bar’s signature technology and practice management seminar, *The Solo and Small Firm Conference*. These seminars are held once a year and are available on demand over the internet.
Mr. Glisson has a long history of service to The Florida Bar. In 2013–2014, he served as a founding member of the Florida Bar’s William Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy; the year prior, he served as Chair of the Council of Sections. In 2011 and 2012, he was a member of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Governors. Other leadership roles held in The Florida Bar include Chair of the Leadership Conference (2012), Chair of the Practice Management Section, Chair of the Committee on Technology, and Chair of the first internet seminar at the Florida Bar Convention in 1996. Mr. Glisson has continuously served on numerous Bar committees and executive councils since 1991.
